RMIT Tech Ignite Scholarship

For commencing computer science, data science, information technology or software engineering students from diverse backgrounds; worth up to $60,000.

$15,000 per year, for the standard duration of program, and a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) activity.

Note: this scholarship is taxable as the recipient is expected to undertake a work integrated learning (WIL) activity with one of the donors. We recommend that you obtain taxation advice from an accountant or the Australian Tax Office regarding scholarships.

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident or a permanent humanitarian visa holder
  • be commencing full-time study in 2022 in one of the following programs
    • Bachelor of Computer Science (BP094)
    • Bachelor of Data Science (BP340)
    • Bachelor of Information Technology (BP162)
    • Bachelor of Software Engineering (BP096)
  • be from a diverse background and/or experiencing financial and/or educational disadvantage such as:
    • being a strong achieving woman or first nations student showing good leadership capabilities
    • receiving a government tested low-income benefit or having a Centrelink Health Care Card
    • having a long-term medical condition or disability
    • experiencing difficult family/social circumstances
    • have relocated/will be relocating from interstate or rural/regional Victoria to study at RMIT
    • being born overseas, from a non-English speaking background and recently migrated to Australia
    • being a current or former refugee
    • completing your secondary education at a School Network Access Program or
    • have previously/are currently living in foster/kinship care or are a ward of the state
  • be available to participate in a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) activity in your second and/or third year of study
  • if shortlisted, respond to an email in late December/mid-January to answer further application questions
  • be available to attend an interview if requested.

Applications can be submitted direct to RMIT or through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) however, it is preferred that you apply direct to RMIT for this scholarship.

The scholarship application process is highly competitive with a limited number of scholarships available. Unfortunately, not all eligible applicants will receive one.
