Direct application dates

Each year, there are two intakes for which you can submit a direct application to RMIT. To find out whether you can submit an application Direct to RMIT, click the ‘Apply’ button on the relevant course page.

Semester 1 intake

Direct applications open on 3 August 2026.

Applications will be accepted for each program until all places are filled, so ensure you apply as early as possible for your application to be considered. Late applications may result in a delayed class commencement. 

The following programs have timely close dates that you will need to submit your application by the below dates. Late applications may continue to be accepted after these dates if places are still available:

Undergraduate study

Postgraduate study

Applications for Semester 2, 2026 intake will open 10 March 2026

Please note:

Some vocational, online and HDR courses may be offered on a continuous basis. Refer to individual course pages for details.

Apply early 

Applications for most courses* are assessed on a rolling basis and will remain open until all places in the course are filled. Applying close to, or after, the semester start date may result in a delayed commencement.

Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) – Semester 2 2026 

For courses offering Commonwealth Supported Places (CSP) in Semester 2 2026 (undergraduate and postgraduate), CSP are limited and applications will close once all CSP are filled. Apply as early as possible to avoid missing out. 

For postgraduate courses, applications for full-fee places may continue to be accepted after CSP applications close. Check the relevant course page for further information.

VTAC application dates

The Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) administers the application process for universities (and other tertiary institutions) in Victoria.

Click the ‘Apply’ button on the relevant course page to see if you are required to apply through VTAC.

Semester 1 intake

  • Applications through VTAC are open from 3 August 2026.
  • Successful applicants will start their study from February (vocational courses) or March (undergraduate degrees) 2026.

Semester 2 intake

Applications for semester 2 (midyear) are only available direct to RMIT.
