Forging productive pathways in data, analytics and AI.

The Data Innovation Hub actively supports collaboration between industry, academia and RMIT students; facilitating opportunities for work integrated learning (WIL) placements, projects and industry engagement.

For students, it’s an exemplary WIL experience that will prepare them for a successful career in data & analytics through practical bootcamps, industry mentoring, paid internships, on-the-job coaching and exciting projects.

For industry, it’s an opportunity to help shape the future workforce and collaborate with RMIT academics and researchers on real world problems.

Our mission

Academic-Industry collaboration

Connecting industry partners with students, researchers and academics to connect academia to real-world problems leading to innovative solutions and potential research translation opportunities

Real-world experiences

Exposing students to internships, projects and mentoring with leading organisations in Australia who are using data, analytics & AI to solve real-world problems.

Career-ready graduates

Preparing students from related fields for a successful career in data, analytics & AI, through an authentic and purposeful WIL experience from application through to training and mentoring.

The (Data Innovation Hub) experience helped close the gap between what I learned from the university and what is practiced in the industry… It offered me the opportunity to work together with the industry partner for six months to familiarise myself with typical data analytics tasks, stakeholder communication skills and the agile development paradigm. A lot of attention and mentoring was given to me by seniors in the team which was a rare and great experience. The experience helped me to realise that the architecture of data applications is a very important topic in the industry and will be one of my major focus in the next of my studies.

- Zhutian Wang, Data Innovation Hub participant
