Dr Damien Nzabanita is an environmental toxicologist and Research Fellow at RMIT University whose work focuses on understanding the impacts of environmental contaminants on ecosystems and environmental health. His research examines the bioaccumulation and effects of heavy metals, persistent organic pollutants (POPs), and emerging contaminants in aquatic environments.
Dr Nzabanita integrates field-based environmental toxicology with analytical chemistry approaches and biomarker analysis to investigate contaminant pathways and their impacts on environmental and wildlife health. His work contributes to environmental monitoring, ecological risk assessment, and evidence-based decision-making for environmental management and conservation.
His research has applications in environmental protection, contaminated site assessment, wildlife health, and ecosystem monitoring. He has published multiple peer-reviewed research articles and collaborates with researchers and organisations working in environmental science, environmental management, and environmental protection.
