I am a passionate and highly experienced educator and researcher in project management, pedagogy and learning innovations. Besides a strong foundation in the built environment (structural engineering and project management) across academia and industry, I also have decades of experience in researching and implementing learning and teaching innovations for various settings and contexts, from small-scale creative face-to-face classrooms to large-scale fully online master programs for leading universities. I am deeply invested in and dedicated to the education of our young people, as I believe that's where I make the best impact in the world.
My education and work background spans across Southeast Asia, The United States, and Australia. I got my Bachelor of Civil Engineering from The University of Adelaide, and my PhD in Construction Engineering and Project Management from The University of Texas at Austin. I have work experience in construction, real estate, corporate training, education startups, and education technology. I have published in leading journals and conference proceedings in the built environment worldwide.
I currently teach project management at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at RMIT. I live in Melbourne with my husband and our two daughters.
I have a deep passion for teaching. I approach all courses with a wholistic approach, aiming to blend the teaching of domain knowledge with the nuturing and development of my students into driven and effective learners who can adapt to a changing world. I strive to develop in them a love of learning for life, and help them approach their education with a sense of purpose, agency, and excitement. My classrooms are active learning labs where I work with my students and my co-teachers to re-envision learning and constantly innovate to make learning and teaching impactful, meaningful, and effective.
I currently teach the following courses in the School of Property, Construction and Project Management at RMIT:
• BUSM3307 Project Management Concepts
• BUSM3308 Techniques in Project Management and Planning
• BUSM4411 Project Initiation Management
My research interests include project management education, front end planning, and management of projects in social, non-profit and sustainable projects.
