If you have been requested to provide a GS Statement of Purpose, your responses will be used to assess your eligibility to enter RMIT University.
A GS Statement of Purpose is a formal document which states your genuine intent to study in Australia.
It is required for both Australian student visa (Genuine Student criteria) application and university admissions, including RMIT, under the Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) guidelines.
RMIT will assess your GS Statement of Purpose to determine your motivation, preparedness, and alignment to the course you’re applying for.
A GS Statement of Purpose allows you to showcase your motivations for applying for a program at RMIT, as well as give you the opportunity to explain your academic and career goals.
You will also be able to explain why you have chosen Australia and share what your post study plan looks like.
A well-written statement could be the difference between being accepted into a program and being denied.
When writing your statement, you will be required to answer a series of questions that ask you about:
Describe your personal and family background including immigration history, why you have applied for the course, and any gaps in your study.
Discuss why you have chosen this program and why you have selected RMIT over other universities.
Share your long-term objectives, future plans and how this course will help you achieve your goals.
Discuss why you prefer to study in Australia instead of your home country. Tell us your expected income when you return home with an Australian qualification compared to studying in your home country.
