The Graduate Certificate in Marketing offers an efficient way to advance your career. You can finish your online Graduate Certificate in Marketing in just eight months, thanks to our innovative intensive learning model. Offering six intakes per year, our study periods run for seven weeks each, focusing on one course at a time for fast-tracked, consolidated learning.

4 courses | 8 months intensive part-time
Each course is seven weeks in duration and requires a minimum of 15-20 hours a week study.

On successful completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • Outline the components of the integrated marketing communications planning process and demonstrate the strategic interaction between these aspects and their relationship to the marketing plan;
  • Critically assess and apply integrated marketing communication theories and practices to identify appropriate target audiences, suitable objectives and contextually appropriate communication approaches that build brand equity.
  • Design ethically appropriate creative messages that reflect suitable positioning and which affect (target audience) behaviour through interrelated marketing communication activities; and
  • Evaluate markets in various forms in order to identify strategically appropriate communication channels that permit effective media utilisation and planning.

This course enables you to approach marketing communications planning from a strategic perspective.

You’ll develop a theoretical appreciation and practical understanding of contemporary concepts, in particular, communication techniques that lead to the establishment of strong brand equity.

Advertising and marketing professionals have enjoyed excellent job growth at 20.3 per cent over the past five years. Graduates are encouraged to progress to the Master of Marketing.

Employment for advertising and marketing professionals is expected to grow by 15.5%, or more than 8500 new jobs, over the next five years according to the Australian Government. The RMIT online Graduate Certificate in Marketing is an AMI accredited course. Students and graduates may be eligible for student membership of the Australian Marketing Institute and the Australian Market and Social Research society.

Admissions

An Australian bachelor degree or equivalent (or higher level qualification) in any discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.

If you do not meet the above entry requirement for the Graduate Certificate, you may be considered if you have five years of work experience.

International students are required to provide current evidence of English language proficiency for admission to RMIT University (see below).

To study this course you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:

  • IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band of 6.5 (with no individual band below 6.0)
  • TOEFL (Internet Based Test - IBT): minimum overall score of 79 (with minimum of 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing)
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): minimum score of 58 (with no communication band less than 50)
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): minimum of 176 with no less than 169 in any component.

Pathways

The Graduate Certificate in Marketing encompasses courses that make up our Graduate Certificate, so if you need to exit the program early, you can earn a postgraduate qualification by successfully completing specified courses. The Graduate Certificate is also a pathway to the Master degree for some students (see admissions).

In addition to tuition fees, you will be charged an annual student services and amenities fee (SSAF) based on your enrolment load, which is used to maintain and enhance services and amenities that improve your experience as an RMIT student. Eligible local students can apply for an SA-HELP loan to defer payment of their SSAF.
