On successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Formulate solutions to effectively manage strategic and operational constraints when bringing products to market
  • Demonstrate innovative and critical thinking by developing product ideas and solving a range of conflicting business and product priorities
  • Implement the technical skills and techniques required to plan, launch and manage products
  • Apple evidence-based, customer-first and market-focused thinking in a range of decision-making scenarios
  • Practice the leadership, relationship management and negotiation skills required to develop and bring products to market
  • Consult to, and influence teams and stakeholders using effective written and oral communication

Learn the concepts of product management, human-centred design, customer journey mapping, competitor analysis and strategic product marketing.  

Analyse opportunities, identify product-market fit and weigh commercial risk. You will learn how to develop and activate a compelling go-to-market strategy, build a product roadmap using common product tooling, deliver a business case and create stakeholder buy-in.

After graduating, you will be equipped to work as a product manager and apply your capability and expertise to diverse organisations and industries. This program will provide you with a foundation to further develop your product management capability through your professional practice and/or further study.

Admissions

An Australian Bachelor's qualification or equivalent overseas qualification in any field, or have undertaken a minimum of 5 years’ relevant professional work experience.

International students are required to provide current evidence of English language proficiency for admission to RMIT University (see below).

To study this course you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:

  • IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band of 6.5 (with no individual band below 6.0)
  • TOEFL (Internet Based Test - IBT): minimum overall score of 79 (with minimum of 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing)
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): minimum score of 58 (with no communication band less than 50)
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): minimum of 176 with no less than 169 in any component.

Fees are adjusted on an annual basis and these fees should only be used as a guide.

In addition to tuition fees, you will be charged an annual student services and amenities fee (SSAF) based on your enrolment load, which is used to maintain and enhance services and amenities that improve your experience as an RMIT student. Eligible local students can apply for an SA-HELP loan to defer payment of their SSAF.

Some students may be eligible to apply to defer payment of some or all of their tuition fees via the Commonwealth Government’s FEE-HELP loan scheme.
