Engagement Portfolio

The Engagement Portfolio is responsible for protecting and enhancing RMIT's international brand and reputation, and working collaboratively across colleges and portfolios to deliver RMIT's strategic priorities.

The portfolio oversees core strategic functions including corporate communications, global marketing, global student recruitment, market insights, fundraising to support teaching, learning and research, and engagement with our alumni and philanthropic communities. 

Vice-President Engagement Michelle King leads the portfolio.

Advancement

This team integrates philanthropy, alumni relations, marketing, and communications to secure support for RMIT’s strategy, education programs, and research activities. 

It involves building relationships with donors, alumni, and the public, and overseeing fundraising and partnerships to support research and student scholarships and grants.  

Communications

This team builds, protects, and inspires the RMIT story. It provides strategic advice, connects audiences and stakeholders, adds context and clarity to complex issues, and delivers integrated communications across internal and external audiences for all RMIT entities.

Digital and Customer Experience

This team designs and delivers engaging, accessible, and consistent digital experiences across the University. 

It focuses on understanding user needs and supporting meaningful journeys for prospective students, learners, and alumni.

Global Student Recruitment

This team builds connections between RMIT and future students in Australia and internationally. It engages directly with prospective students, as well as with schools, partner institutions, sponsors, and global agents.

It supports students through the admissions journey from application and offer through to enrolment. It also delivers Exchange and Study Abroad programs to strengthen student mobility and global learning opportunities.

Global Marketing

This team builds and promotes the University’s brand by engaging audiences in Australia and internationally. 

It leads brand, content, and campaign activity and fosters lifelong connections through alumni engagement and international alumni communities.

Market Intelligence and Proposition

This team uses data and insight to understand learner needs, shifting demand, and the forces shaping education and work. 

It supports informed decision-making across the University by translating evidence and foresight into clear guidance on where to focus and how to adapt, helping RMIT remain future-ready.
