About

Dr Rob Cunningham has over 25 years of experience as a social worker, including roles in child protection, out-of-home care, youth mental health, and in the Australian Public Service. Rob has specialised in trauma-based work, including emergency and disaster social work practice in Australia and internationally. 

 

Rob is a lecturer in the Social Work and Human Services team and coordinator of the MSW Field Education Program. Rob's teaching integrates social work theory and coursework with the realities of social work practice, utilising his 25 years of working in the field and industry networks to focus on practice-based learning. 

 

Rob is an active researcher, integrating his practice experience in trauma-based work with culturally informed, creative, participatory action research with community, industry and government partners.
