About

Pete Fernandes is an educator, researcher, and academic specialising in Finance and FinTech at RMIT. Bringing a unique blend of discipline expertise and learning design, Pete develops innovative, data-informed educational strategies. He has led high-impact initiatives such as LoFi Games, Games in Learning, and Beyond the Classroom, earning recognition for teaching excellence and strong student satisfaction. He aims to equip students with essential modern capabilities, including Python, data analytics, and key tech skills, to bridge the gap between financial theory and industry practice.

 

Pete’s research focuses on Finance Education in the Age of AI, SoTL and Authentic Assessment Design. He is driven by a vision to cultivate lifelong learning through active, applied, and authentic learning experiences.

 

Complementing his academic work, Pete draws on practical experience across the FinTech and startup sectors, focusing on financial strategy, valuation, and applied analytics. Outside of finance and academia, he has a passion for sports and applies his skills to sports analytics projects. He actively welcomes discussions on pedagogical partnerships, industry engagement, and collaborative research initiatives. (Including sport related ones)
