The Emeritus Professor David Beanland AO Scholarship was established by RMIT and Emeritus Professor Beanland in 2014.

The scholarship aims to provide support and encouragement to Engineering students at RMIT.

Emeritus Professor David Beanland AO was Vice-Chancellor of RMIT from 1992 to 2000, and Director of RMIT Vietnam from 2000 to 2004. He played a significant role in bringing RMIT to Vietnam, among other extensive achievements, and became an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2001 for service to education.

Quotes from past recipients:

"This scholarship I am receiving has provided a means of financial security throughout the past year of studying. It has allowed me to focus on the courses in my degree, rather than have to divide my attention between that and a part-time job. I have also been fortunate in being able to participate in a number of volunteer activities, extra-curricular to my degree program, which has provided extremely valuable personal experience and skill development. These volunteer opportunities would not have been so available if I was not receiving this scholarship." - Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace Engineering) (Honours) student
