About

James Bond is a Circular Economy Research Fellow in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). He is an active member of the RMIT Circular Economy Hub and the Interdisciplinary Conservation Science Research Group (ICON Science).

 

He co-developed and now manages several major projects with international research and industry partners, including the International Clean Innovation Researcher Network, the Quad Clean Energy Supply Chain Diversification Program, and Cooperative Research Centres Projects. Collaborators include King’s College London, NYU, and the RAND Corporation. These initiatives share a common goal: to catalyse innovation and commercialise clean technologies through dynamic research–industry partnerships.

 

In a recent RMIT collaboration, he initiated an industry partnership to co-develop AI-assisted technology for controlling invasive species (feral cats) in the Australian bush — highlighting his focus on applied innovation with strong environmental impact.

 

James holds a PhD in Legal Studies and Human Geography from the University of Melbourne. Beyond academia, his career includes managing research projects in the private and non-government sectors, along with green technology consultancy, IT transformation, and government roles.
