Marissa Blunden

I am an Australian with heritage from Asia and the British Isles. I research and foster collaborations between ecology, soil science and Indigenous land stewards. 

Through my research I have focused mostly on soil microbial ecology, soil carbon dynamics, Indigenous land stewardship, fire ecology, and plant–soil interactions. I am particularly interested in how cultural land management practices foster ecosystem thrivance. Complementarily, I spend a good deal of time sitting with what our species' ecological role is - what it is now, what is has been, what it can be - and the hopeful path that recognition might offer us.
