Chintha is a Nutritionist and researcher with expertise in human nutrition, metabolic health, and chronic disease. Her research interests focus on understanding how diet, and bioactive natural products influence metabolism, immune function, and health outcomes. She has particular interests in diabetes, obesity, metaflammation, the gut microbiome, post-viral condition such as Long COVID, and the identification of novel bioactive compounds with potential therapeutic applications
Her research aims to improve understanding of the biological, nutritional, lifestyle, and psychosocial factors that influence health and disease. She has experience across laboratory-based research, clinical trial coordination, and mixed-methods research, and is particularly interested in identifying evidence-based strategies to support health, wellbeing, and quality of life in people living with chronic and complex health conditions.
She is currently involved in longitudinal research examining the long-term health, social, and quality-of-life impacts of COVID-19. This research investigates the relationships between symptom burden, fatigue, autonomic dysfunction, psychosocial factors, lifestyle behaviours, and recovery trajectories in people living with Long COVID, with the aim of informing evidence-based approaches to care and support.
Chintha has supported undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the health and life sciences. Her contributions include laboratory demonstration, practical class facilitation, assisting student learning, and marking assessment tasks in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Plant Diversity, and Community Nutrition. She is committed to fostering student engagement and supporting the development of scientific knowledge and critical thinking skills.
She is currently co-supervising a PhD student and contributing to the supervision of several Master's research projects.
