Gaomin Liu is an Associate Lecturer at RMIT University and holds a PhD in Business and Economics from the University of Melbourne. She also holds a Master’s degree from the University of Melbourne and an MPhil degree from the University of Cambridge.
Before joining RMIT University, Gaomin worked across academia and consulting, contributing to projects on strategy and innovation management for multinational enterprises. Her research focuses on strategy, innovation, sustainability transitions, and international business, with particular interests in how organisations navigate technological uncertainty and emerging industries. Her work has been recognised through several competitive awards, including the Best Dissertation-Based Paper Award at the Academy of Management (AoM) conference and the BPISC Best Paper Prize at the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM) Conference. Her research has also been supported by several scholarships and grants, including the M. A. Bartlett Research Scholarship, the Faculty of Business and Economics Graduate Research Abroad Travelling Scholarship (FBE-GRATS), and the Faculty of Business and Economics Graduate Research Enhancement Grant (FBE-GREG).
Gaomin actively contributes to the academic community through conference organisation, peer review, and scholarly service. Her research has been presented at leading international conferences, including the AOMand ANZAM, and she serves as a reviewer for journals such as Organization & Environment and for major international conferences including the AOMand ANZAM.
In addition to her research, Gaomin has taught across undergraduate, postgraduate, and MBA programs. Her teaching interests lie at the intersection of strategy, innovation, digitalisation, sustainability, and international business, with a strong focus on connecting academic knowledge to contemporary industry challenges.
