Academic Merit Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial assistance to outstanding international students from Southeast Asia, Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria

Value and duration

20% tuition fee reduction for the eligible program(s)* duration outlined on your offer letter.

Eligibility

In order to qualify for this scholarship you must:

  • be a citizen of Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria or Vietnam 
  • be applying offshore from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria or Vietnam (RMIT Vietnam students who have completed cross-campus studies and apply for the same level of qualification are not eligible)
  • be an international student holding a valid student visa or plan to apply for a student visa prior to the program commencement
  • achieve Australian equivalent grade GPA of 2.5 or 70% average or ATAR 75 in your qualifying qualification
  • have existing offer letter (full or conditional offer) and be commencing student in July or October (if applicable) 2023 intake or February or July 2024 intake in any Vocational Education, Associate Degree*, Bachelor’s degree*, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Masters by Coursework program
  • not be an existing RMIT University student (existing ELICOS or Foundation Studies may be eligible)

* Exclusions apply to the following programs:

  • AD023 Associate Degree in Aviation (Professional Pilots)
  • BP345 Bachelor of Aviation (Pilot Training)

How to apply

  1. Select an eligible program
  2. Submit an application to study at RMIT
  3. No scholarship application is required. 
  4. If you are successful, you will receive an offer letter with the scholarship details outlined.

Terms and conditions

  • The scholarship is only applicable for tuition fees and will be applied into your RMIT's student account approximately within 2 weeks of the program commencement.
  • The scholarship is only applicable to the eligible program(s) and duration on your initial offer letter.
  • The scholarship is not transferable when you change to another program after you commenced.
  • Applicants with ELICOS or Foundation Studies packaged offer may be eligible. However, they must commence the eligible program in July or October 2023 intake or February or July 2024 intake.
  • This scholarship cannot be deferred to another year/intake and must be used for the intake you have been offered it for.
  • Scholarship selection is based on academic merit.
  • Successful applicants will be notified; unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.
  • Applicants should not be in receipt of any other scholarship or government funded sponsorship covering tuition fees e.g. Australia Awards scholarship, MARA, LPDP (applicants currently in receipt of MACC scholarship may be considered). 
  • The scholarship will be revoked if you are granted any other scholarship or government funded sponsorship covering tuition fees e.g. Australia Awards scholarship, MARA, LPDP.
