Through absurdist video and intricately crocheted metal, 'Docile Anatomy' examines how femininity is shaped and performed, exposing the hidden labour often expected of women and challenging outdated yet enduring societal expectations.

Denton’s video works deliberately exaggerate conventions of the female form. Using unexpected materials to reshape and extend the body, she turns familiar ideals into strange spectacles that prompt us to question our assumptions about how femininity should look.

Alongside these works, Corridore’s tapestries extend this exploration of femininity, drawing attention to women’s often-unpaid and unrecognised labour. At first glance these crocheted works appear to be decorative objects or domestic craft, but closer inspection reveals that they are made with rusting binding wire. Their material weight, roughness and demanding production reframe how we see both the objects and the ‘women’s work’ required to make them. The painstaking process also unsettles the idea that domestic labour is naturally feminine or simply a ‘labour of love’.

Together, the artists transform familiar signs of femininity, opening space to question who sets the standard, who performs it, and at what cost.

Gina Corridore is an artist and writer whose research-led practice examines womanhood, culture and belonging. Through needlework, she explores histories of women’s domestic labour while preserving connections to her Italian and Maltese heritage. Corridore graduated from RMIT’s Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts) in 2025, receiving the iSquared Gallery Exhibition Prize and a place on the Vice-Chancellor’s List.

Zoe Denton is a multidisciplinary artist working across photography, poetry, installation, metalwork and text. Drawing on personal narrative and feminist theory, she explores sexual trauma, bodily autonomy, and women’s visibility and erasure. Her works often navigate tensions between submission and resistance, shame and reclamation and opacity and disclosure. Denton graduated from RMIT’s Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts) in 2025.

Together, Corridore and Denton examine how femininity and the body are shaped by social and internal forces. Their first exhibition together, Proprietary Limited, was presented at MOM Gallery in 2026; Docile Anatomy continues their collaboration.
