Join educators and sector peers to explore evidence-informed approaches to teaching and learning across Education, Technology and Policy.

RMIT’s inaugural Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) conference brings educators and sector peers together to share scholarly approaches to current teaching and learning questions.

The program includes sessions on assessment, generative AI, student engagement, employability, sustainability and inclusive practice, with presenters exploring how evidence-informed inquiry can strengthen teaching and learning.

Program overview

SoTL 2026 is for RMIT educators, staff interested in teaching and learning, and sector peers engaged with evidence-informed education practice.

Conducting research with or about people, their data or biospecimens requires an understanding of human research ethics.

This practical session will explain how to gain and maintain ethical approval for SoTL projects, including recent changes to the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A.

The session is open to staff across RMIT, including RMIT Vietnam.

  • Melbourne time: 2.00pm to 3.00pm AEST
  • Vietnam time: 11.00am to 12.00pm ICT

Sessions will explore current teaching and learning questions, including generative AI and assessment, employability, sustainability, inclusive practice, student confidence, digital literacy, collaboration, storytelling assessment and educator capability.

Online sessions will include emerging papers and lightning talks across Education, Technology and Policy, covering topics such as generative AI, assessment, digital fluency, industry-partnered learning, sustainability and student transition.
