RMIT University in partnership with The Wheeler Centre presents acclaimed cook, writer and broadcaster Adam Liaw in conversation with Benjamin Law.

Following his triumphant MasterChef Australia win in 2010, Liaw has become one of the country’s most trusted and engaging voices on food. Across television, books and journalism, he has championed an approach to cooking that is practical, nourishing and grounded in culture.

In Asian Home Cooking, Liaw explores everyday meals from across Asia through more than 200 recipes, spanning Japanese staples, Vietnamese soups, South Indian sambars and Chinese noodles. Each dish is placed within its cultural and domestic context, reflecting the role food plays in family, identity and belonging.

Before the conversation, Natalie Jovanovski, RMIT Vice Chancellor’s Senior Research Fellow and health sociologist, will provide a contextual introduction, drawing on her expertise in food culture, healthy eating and the social practices that shape our relationships with food, health and our bodies.

Liaw will reflect on the years of travel and research behind Asian Home Cooking, his career and the enduring connection between food, culture and everyday life.
