Join us at The Capitol for the premiere of three revolutionary d/Deaf-accessible music videos from 'The Legend of Queen Kong', followed by a star-studded panel discussion exploring queer music, film and access.

Experience the premiere of three d/Deaf-accessible music videos from The Legend of Queen Kong, a queer, genre-defying visual album born from a 12-year creative odyssey. Featuring a kaleidoscopic mix of archival footage, animation, screen art and live performance, the films reimagine the music video as a space for queer myth-making, visibility and access.

The screening will be followed by “Queering the Music Video”, a panel exploring how the music video form can be disrupted, remixed and reclaimed. Moderated by RMIT University’s Cerise Howard, the panel features the artists and directors of Fat Fruit—Sarah Ward, Bec Matthews and The Huxleys—alongside special guest Dr Stayci Taylor (RMIT University), with a video message from Deaf artist Asphyxia.

Live performances from co-creators Sarah Ward and Bec Matthews will be woven throughout the evening. The event will be Auslan-interpreted by Dr Kirri Dangerfield and Khang Chiem and is accessible to d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing audiences.
