How can renewable energy Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) deliver broader social and environmental benefits within a complex energy system?

Join us online as part of the Regenerative Futures Institute's inaugural Events Season for a panel discussion exploring the future of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). The session will reflect on the achievements and lessons learned from the Melbourne Renewable Energy Projects 1 and 2 (MREP1 and MREP2), as well as what comes next for PPAs.

The panel brings together Dr Tehmina Khan and Dr Stephan Dua Modest from RMIT University, Darcy Pimblett from the City of Melbourne, and Mark Asbjerg from ERM, offering perspectives across sustainability accounting, energy market communication, local government and PPA transactions.

Together they will consider how PPAs can deliver benefits beyond emissions reduction and price certainty, including improved energy access, local community development, ecological health and social equity. The discussion will also explore how universities, government and industry can work together to support a fairer and more sustainable energy transition.
