Sustainability and Equity Evaluation (SEE) Tool

RMIT is a purpose-driven organisation with strong commitments to sustainability, diversity, inclusion and the self-determination and sovereignty of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.

In order to make our values come to life each day, the Diversity & Inclusion Teams from across People and Student Life, the Sustainability Team and the Indigenous Education, Research and Engagement Team have worked together to create a holistic evaluation tool.

The Sustainability & Equity Evaluation (SEE) Tool is designed to build capability across RMIT. The tool is utilised as part of a facilitated workshop in order for people to think holistically about the positive and negative impacts of their work.

The use of the tool supports three key University commitments:

Family

The IDEA Framework

The Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access Framework 2031 prioritises creating inclusive and equitable environments. ‘Inclusive by Design’ Everyone, Everywhere, All the time’.

Connect

Responsible Practice

Transitioning to responsible practice reflects our maturity in this space by embedding what we have learnt during our reconciliation journey and translating this into daily behaviours, relationships, policies, and activities without the need for a guiding Reconciliation Plan.

Sustainability

Making sustainability an organisational priority – embedding sustainability principles into all university activities and ensuring decision making reflects RMIT’s values. Using the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a lens for transformational change.

The SEE Tool is used as part of a facilitated process to assess the impacts of projects, policies and services at various stages to make sure we are meeting our commitments.

It draws together all the strands of our values to reduce duplication and helps to identify areas of focus to achieve better outcomes for our people, communities and environment.
