If you are unable to verify your citizenship in EOL check that your name, including middle name, in EOL matches the name on the document you are using to verify your citizenship, and update your name in EOL if they do not match.

It is important that you enrol at RMIT in your full, legal name and your name will be verified with your Unique Student Identifier (USI).

If you are still unable to verify your citizenship, please provide some detail about the issue you are experiencing and attach a copy of your documents via the RMIT Connect portal below.

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a 10 digit reference number that will give you access to an online record of all of your recognised training and qualifications.

Create your USI at usi.gov.au - it's free and only takes a few minutes.

After you enrol, you can continue to add or drop classes via Enrolment online until the last day to add and last day to drop - you'll find these in your important dates.

If you want to withdraw completely from your studies you must cancel your program enrolment. We recommend you seek academic advice from your school or college before you proceed.

Eligible enrolled students may apply for a leave of absence for either six months or a year. Most students can apply for a leave of absence through enrolment online. For instructions, please visit the Apply for a leave of absence page.

Yes, you can change your program. Download the Changing Programs Quick Tips PDF for more information on things you should consider before changing your program and how to apply.

You may also want to make a booking with a Careers Consultant via the JobShop to discuss which program fits best with your career aspirations.

You can use the Add or Drop function in Enrolment Online until the relevant cut-off date for adding and/or dropping courses in each semester. You cannot drop all courses in a semester, if you want to drop all of your courses you need to apply for a leave of absence or cancel your enrolment if you no longer wish to continue your program.

Centrelink requirements: If you’re getting a student payment from Centrelink, you need to notify them within 14 days of any changes to your enrolment. Report your change of circumstances to avoid getting an over-payment.

International students: Changing your study plans may have visa implications so you should discuss any changes with your School and RMIT Student Connect as early as possible via the RMIT Connect portal below. For more information, see changes to your study plans

The main types of non-standard enrolment are:
  • other RMIT studies (i.e. substituting an RMIT course that isn’t part of your standard program structure)
  • cross institutional outbound (i.e. completing a course at another Australian institution)
  • on campus to online (i.e. completing an RMIT course/unit offered via OUA).
Contact your school via the recommended channel below to discuss non standard enrolment and to seek approval.

International students: If you’re on a student visa, you’re required to enrol in a 100% load each semester and complete your study within the expected program duration on your Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE). If you’re granted credit, your expected program duration may change and this may also affect your student visa. See Student visas for more information.

Under normal circumstances, you are not permitted to add classes after the last day to add, although you may request permission to do so in special circumstances. You can request permission in Enrolment Online
  • Log in to Enrolment Online.
  • Select Add next to the relevant classes.
  • Follow the prompts to apply for permission.

You should refer to the guidelines and procedures for student visa holders requesting a transfer between registered education providers in Australia on the 'Transferring to another education provider' page.

To apply for a release from RMIT you must complete this online 'Application to Transfer Education Provider'.

In most cases the Statement of Enrolment (SoE) can be used. The SoE is an official statement from RMIT University confirming your program and course enrolment, and the census date that is relevant to each of the classes in which you are enrolled. You can print a copy of your SoE in Enrolment Online.
  • Log in to Enrolment Online and select the My student record button
  • Under Enrolment details, select View Statement of Enrolment (SoE)
Sometimes the government or other official agencies will request specific letters or forms to be completed confirming a student’s enrolment in addition to the SoE. A fee is associated with these requests and you can find more information by visiting the Prove your enrolment page. To request a specific letter, please contact us via the RMIT Connect portal below.

Graduating students who have guests visiting from outside Australia may need to provide evidence of their graduation for their guests to apply for a visa. The email you received confirming your application to graduate is sufficient for this purpose. You'll receive this email after applying to graduate at the Melbourne Ceremony.

The international student holiday letter confirms a student is enrolled at RMIT and lists the official RMIT holiday or break period. Request this letter if your employer has requested evidence of your eligibility to work over 20 hours during recognised breaks.

The international currently enrolled letter confirms a student is studying full time at RMIT, shows the start and end date of the program and lists passport details for added confirmation. Please upload a copy of your passport when requesting this letter.

Undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of two approved OUA courses at RMIT can register for a RMIT program by submitting a request via the RMIT Connect portal below.

Postgraduate students should contact OUA Student Advisors for a program application.

RMIT is only allowed to extend the duration of your study if:
You need to have received all results from the current semester of study to begin the process to renew your eCoE to avoid further changes later if you have failed a course.

As part of preparing for the semester, attend the How2RMIT sessions and campus tours which are packed with essential information that will help new and returning students to get ready and organised to make a smooth start to the semester and succeed at RMIT.

In How2RMIT experienced students explain everything - from timetabling, fees and loans, to studying successfully, making friends, finding your way around, getting involved in the RMIT community, free support services, and lots more.
