Habitat for Humanity - Volunteer Storm Recovery Day

Property, Construction & Project Management staff volunteer to support Habitat for Humanity and help a family with their storm recovery efforts.

On Friday 11th February, a team of eager PCPM staff travelled to the Dandenong Ranges to help a family whose property was badly impacted by last winter’s extreme weather. During the storms, many large trees were lost, and the house had been partially damaged. Much of the property had since become overgrown and was inaccessible to Maxine, the owner, and her trusted four-legged best friend, Justice!

Working with a variety of power and hand tools, the team helped clean up the large block by clearing paths, freeing fences from climbing weeds, and cutting and moving fallen logs. The team helped make the property safer for Maxine and Justice to access and enjoy.

The event was organised by the PCPM Diversity and Inclusion Team: Nicola Willand, Ruwini Edirisinghe, and Erin Mellencamp – congratulations and thank you all for this wonderful initiative. After two years of mainly online communications, we also enjoyed seeing each other face to face, sharing some excellent homemade food (thank you Niki), chatting, and tackling tricky and heavy tasks together. Rod, our team leader for the day guided us through the work and kept us entertained during the breaks. He was a terrific ambassador for Habitat for Humanity.
