Vietnam Business PhD scholarship

PhD scholarship at RMIT Vietnam focused on technological change, sustainability, digital transformation, renewable energy transition, and structural economic transformation.

RMIT Vietnam is offering PhD scholarships for outstanding candidates interested in high-impact research across business, economics, technology, sustainability, and related fields. Scholars will join an internationally connected research environment with access to experienced supervision, research training, and opportunities to contribute to innovative and policy-relevant research.

The scholarship provides a stipend of AUD 36,245 per annum (2026 rate), indexed annually in line with RMIT's centrally awarded scholarship adjustments. No additional top-up funding is included.

Applicants should hold a master's degree in economics or a related discipline with strong quantitative and analytical skills. Preference will be given to candidates with interests in econometrics, data science, environmental economics, development economics, applied macroeconomics, or related fields. Proficiency in analytical software such as R, STATA, or Python is strongly preferred.

The scholarship is linked to a research project examining the role of technological change, digital transformation, renewable energy transition, and institutions in shaping sustainable economic growth and structural transformation. The project focuses primarily on developing and emerging economies, particularly in Asia, and encourages the use of econometric analysis, Big Data, machine learning, and quantitative modelling techniques. Candidates with strong interests in applied macroeconomics, sustainability, environmental economics, econometrics, and data analytics are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to be based at RMIT Vietnam.
