PhD scholarship in Ventilating future cities: advancing urban flow science for heat resilience

Fully funded PhD scholarship (includes stipend, tuition waiver and health cover) to undertake cutting-edge experimental research in urban flows at RMIT University.

Open to outstanding graduates in engineering, physics, mathematics or related fields interested in experimental research in urban/environmental flows, data analysis and reduced-order modelling for a sustainable future.

Scholarship provides a stipend of $36,245 per annum indexed annually in line with indexation applied to centrally awarded scholarships.

Candidates are expected to have Masters in experimental fluid flows with at least a year spent on an individually led research project (i.e. Masters' thesis).

Interested candidates need to receive approval from the lead CI before being eligible to apply.

The project is suited to applicants with strong analytical and problem-solving skills who enjoy combining experiments, data analysis and modelling to understand complex physical systems. A background in engineering, physics, mathematics or a related discipline is desirable. Experience with scientific programming (e.g. MATLAB or Python), experimental fluid mechanics and/or heat transfer and disseminating research through conferences and journal papers is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.

The successful candidate will join an internationally collaborative research program with opportunities to present research at leading conferences and engage with collaborators in Australia and overseas.
