Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Have a Masters (or equivalent) in one or more of the following: Sustainability, Carbon Accounting, Business Analytics, Data Science, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science or Engineering.
  • Be an Australian resident or citizen.
  • Not have previously undertaken a PhD.
  • Meet RMIT PhD admission requirements.

A critical part of climate action is improving how supply chain emissions are quantified and reduced, noting these emissions are often the largest and least well understood. Current methodologies based on spend analysis do not accurately reflect an organisations scope 3 emissions footprint, whilst supplier surveys produce a burden on reporting organisations. This PhD stipend is intended to support practical, actionable research that strengthens supply chain transparency, with tangible outcomes for complex organisations like RMIT and broader industry.
