Prof. Lasantha Meegahapola is the Professor of Electrical Power and Energy Systems at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. He has over 19 years of research experience in power system stability with renewable power generation. He has led seminal fundamental and industry research projects, such as frequency regulation using wind farms, demand response from commercial and industrial customer and siting & sizing of community battery energy storage systems. Prof. Meegahapola also served on national and international working groups and task forces, including the national electricity rule change project and the IEEE task forces on microgrid stability definitions and dynamic modelling. He has published more than 250 peer-reviewed journal & conference articles and has supervised 21 PhD scholars. Prof. Meegahapola also serves as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, IEEE Power Engineering Letters, and IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications.
