Dr Kazi Hasan is the Theme Lead of Transport Electrification within the Energy@RMIT network. He is a senior member of IEEE and currently serves as the Chair of IEEE PES Victorian Chapter, Australia. He is the coordinator of UG (BH075) and PG (MC235) projects in the School of Engineering at RMIT.
Dr Hasan delivers industry/research projects, disseminates research findings, and teaches at RMIT University in Electrical Power and Energy Systems Engineering.
Dr Hasan has designed and been delivering the Smart Grids course at RMIT University in Melbourne (and in a Hong Kong partner institute) at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels since 2022.
Dr Hasan's research focus and expertise are on the integration of new energy technologies (renewable energy, EV, demand response, GFM inverter) into power grids, particularly emphasising power system dynamics, reliability, flexibility, and economy. He has a strong record of establishing and maintaining industry engagement, leading to 15 research grants over the last 6 years, with around AUD 4 million in grant success.
Dr Hasan has published 100+ top-class journal and conference papers and presented at 40+ international conferences and seminars in Australia, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Fiji, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Thailand, the UK, and the USA.
Dr Hasan has been involved in teaching/tutoring and assessment at the University of Manchester, UK, Sheffield Hallam University, UK, University of Queensland, Australia and the University of Tasmania, Australia for BSc and MSc courses, which include Power System Analysis, Power System Modelling, Analysis of Electrical Power and Energy Conversion Systems, Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, Supply and Distribution, and Power System Dynamics and Quality of Supply.
