About

Suzi Hayes has been working in the social sector for over twenty years. Suzi has held positions in public and community health, local government, performing arts and higher education across advocacy, research, teaching and service provision. Suzi brings a lived experience lens to professional practice, combining lived and learned expertise for feminist oriented justice focused systems change. 

 

Suzi is the Queer Futures theme lead for the RMIT LGBTIQA+ Research Impact Network.

Teaching interests

Suzi teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Global Urban and Social Studies with a focus on critical social work and social science (psychology). Suzi's teaching experience spans gender equity, LGBTIQA+ medical education, professional writing, and creative writing.

 

Suzi currently coordinates and teaches in critical Trauma Informed Practice and Discourses of Care, Control, and Protection at RMIT.

Research interests

Suzi's current research focuses on collective care and joy within queer communities.
