About

Sharad Sharma is an academic and researcher at RMIT University with over 30 years of experience spanning the global banking industry and higher education. 

 

Before entering academia, Sharad served as a Vice President at Axis Bank, leading regional business and retail divisions. His extensive industry background in wealth management, corporate banking, and audit and compliance informs his approach to teaching and curriculum design. He holds a PhD in Accountancy and a Master of Business (Accounting) (Research) from RMIT University.

Teaching interests

Currently serving as a Lecturer and Course Coordinator, he oversees the Personal Wealth Management curriculum and teaches across a broad portfolio including taxation, superannuation, Risk Insurance & Social Security, Financial Accounting Theory, Auditing & Ethics, and Contemporary Financial & Integrated Reporting.  

Research interests

Sharad’s research sits at the intersection of finance, technology, and corporate governance.  His recent work focuses on synthesising global cryptocurrency taxation frameworks, analysing greenwashing in ESG and financial markets, and examining the effects of gender diversity and corporate reputation on firm performance.
