About

Deepak Sardana is an Associate Professor in the School of Management within College of Business & Law at RMIT University, which he joined recently in Feb 2024. His research and teaching interests are in the areas of strategy, entrepreneurship, innovation and international business (especially Asian Business). Deepak’s research has been published in prestigious international peer-reviewed journals – Research Policy, Journal of Small Business Management, Small Business Economics, Journal of World Business, Industrial Marketing Management, International Business Review, International Marketing Review, International Journal for Production Economics, etc. He has co-authored two books – Conducting Business in China and India: A comparative and contextual analysis (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017) and Weathering the storm in China and India: Comparative analysis of societal transformation under the leadership of Xi and Modi (Routledge, 2020).

Deepak being a keen researcher, he is passionate about guiding PhD students and/or early career researchers. He is also interested in developing research projects and seeking competitive research grants. Deepak has received funding from Australian Research Council’s Discovery grant and Australia-Japan Foundation Grant (Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade, Australia) in the past.

Deepak had the privilege to work in administrative capacities within Business Schools in Australia. He was the Program Director for multiple programs – International MBA (all specializations), Master of Management (all specializations), B. Business (Entrepreneurship & Innovation) - in UniSA Business. Likewise, he served as a Discipline Leader for Entrepreneurship and Marketing at Griffith Business School. Deepak also served as one of the co-directors for Centre for Enterprise Dynamics in Global Economics in UniSA Business.

Aside from academia, Deepak has worked in (and/or provided consulting to) the industry and government. He has the experience of not only working in but also being a founding member in new ventures (for-profit social enterprises and technology enterprises).

Deepak obtained PhD (Business Administration) from The Australian National University. Prior to this he did MBA from Griffith University, M.Phil. (Science Policy) from Jawaharlal Nehru University (India), and M.A. (Social Work) from Lucknow University (India).
