Offshore Learning Centres and other study options

Study your RMIT program online while enjoying a campus experience in your home country.

RMIT University is partnering with universities around the world to assist international students impacted by global travel restrictions and border closures. 

Offshore Learning Centres (OLC) and other in-country study options provide the benefits of a genuine campus community to RMIT students who are learning online while living outside Australia.  

Students will have access to university facilities and face-to-face support while completing an Australian qualification.  

China

Students that are over the age of 18 and enrolled full time (4 units) into RMIT programs will be able to undertake their learning at the Beijing Institute of Technology Zhuhai campus OLC.

Beijing Institute of Technology Zhuhai campus OLC is available to student enrolled in the following programs:

  • Foundation Studies, all streams
  • (General)  
  • (Art, Design and Architecture)
  • (Business)  
  • (Science, Engineering and Health)
  • College of Business and Law programs  
  • All levels of study (Certificates, Diplomas, Bachelor and Postgraduate by Coursework)
  • School of Media and Communication programs  
  • All levels of study (Certificates, Diplomas, Bachelor and Postgraduate by Coursework)
  • School of Property, Construction and Project Management programs  
  • All levels of study (Certificates, Diplomas, Bachelor and Postgraduate by Coursework)

Campus information

Study your RMIT program online and connect with RMIT teachers and mentors virtually via the RMIT VPN using a stable, reliable internet connection. 

Benefits of the Beijing Institute of Technology Zhuhai campus OLC include: 

  • Engaging with other RMIT Foundation Studies students face to face 
  • Access to all modern facilities on the Beijing Institute of Technology Zhuhai campus, including a library, sports field, student canteen, and more
  • Accommodation within walking distance to the campus
  • English learning support
  • Online services supported by a Learning Facilitator.

RMIT launched its first OLC in February 2021 in collaboration with Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA). Study your RMIT program online via the RMIT VPN using NUAA’s stable, reliable internet connection. 

The NUAA OLC is available for RMIT students commencing and continuing online studies and over the age of 18 years in July 2021, in programs taught by the College of Science, Engineering and Health.

You’ll feel safe and secure on the NUAA campus, with 24/7 emergency and health support available. 

New students commencing programs at RMIT University, and continuing students already enrolled in RMIT University or cooperative courses (合作办学课程 ) with partner institutions in China (CUMT, NJUCM and SDUW) will attend the NUAA Tianmuhu campus. 

Students already enrolled in cooperative courses (合作办学课程 ) with NUAA will attend the NUAA Jiangjun Rd campus.   

Students that are over the age of 18 and enrolled full time in RMIT’s Bachelor of Science, Food Technology and Nutrition program will be able to undertake their learning at Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (NJUCM).

  • Engaging with other RMIT-NJUCM students face to face in designated RMIT study spaces   
  • Access to all facilities on campus   
  • On campus accommodation  
  • Face-to-face support from a Learning Facilitator 

Tianhua College courses have been mapped to provide credit into an RMIT Bachelor of Business, so that students have a direct pathway into the second year of an RMIT degree (subject to meeting the academic requirements). 

Students also have the option to complete RMIT courses online while studying at Tianhua College.

  • Tianhua College offers in-person academic support for Tianhua College courses. 
  • Engage with other RMIT students at Tianhua College  
  • Access to all modern facilities on campus: including a library, sports field, computer labs, student canteen, and more 
  • On-campus accommodation   
  • Online support for students. 

Thailand

Kasetsart University (KU) is open to new and continuing students studying engineering at KU or any students over the age of 18 and enrolled in a minimum 50% load into RMIT University programs.

The campus will be open during business hours (Mon-Fri) with extended hours during examination periods.

Campus information

  • Kasetsart University is staffed by full-time learning facilitators to support students with their academic queries and challenges.
  • The university is managed and supported by on-site KU staff and study advisors.
  • Wi-Fi internet access via KUWIN
  • Access to university library
  • KU Engineering Fit & Firm membership 

COVID-19 information

The university will offer a hybrid mode of learning that blends onsite learning and online depending on the evolving COVID-19 situation.

While the COVID-19 situation persists, all learning will be delivered remotely with RMIT with additional support provided to students through:

  • Online community and social events with RMIT students in Thailand and Melbourne
  • Local KU staff and study advisor support, online

Indonesia

Due to COVID-19 travel restriction and border closures, RMIT has launched a Virtual Offshore Learning Centre (OLC) in Jakarta, Indonesia in collaboration with BINUS University at the FX Campus.

Virtual OLCs provide a supportive learning environment by enabling students to learn in a genuine digital community and further enhance the attractiveness of online learning

BINUS University FX Campus is available to commencing and continuing students over the age of 18 enrolled full-time in RMIT University programs within the College of Business and Law, STEM College and College of Design and Social Context (including Vocational Education & Foundation Studies).

Campus information

BINUS @ Senayan campus is located inside FX Lifestyle Center Sudirman on the 6th floor, the centre of business and entertainment for South Jakarta.

The FX Campus provides a learning supportive environment by instilling confidence enabling students to learn in a genuine quality campus community and further enhances the attractiveness of online learning.   

  • Campus-wide Free Internet Access

Fast and free Wi-Fi internet access in available in all classrooms and corridors, include Students Lounge.

  • Extensive Library Collection

Extensive book collections allow students to conduct in-depth research for various projects or papers.

  • Compact High-Tech Classrooms

Classrooms with variable seating capacities, including facilities such as LCD Projectors and wireless internet.

  • Safe and Secure on BINUS FX campus environment

24/7 emergency and health support from BINUS with on-campus accommodation available.
