College of Vocational Education

The College of Vocational Education (VE) incorporates the fields of business, design and technology, media, art and communication, social care, engineering technology, nursing, computer science, myotherapy, dental studies, trades and the built environment.

The College of VE is an area of the university that is passionately focused on high quality outcomes and impacts for our students, our communities and our stakeholders – through supporting and enabling our staff to deliver together against our promise of ‘a skilled hand, a cultivated mind’.

We provide high quality vocational (TAFE) courses to school leavers, existing workers and employers through a range of certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas and associate degrees.

With robust ties to industry through effective engagement and deep collaboration, the College of VE provides rich discipline knowledge and a learning and teaching delivery model that aligns to future student and industry needs.

Employing more than 1,000 teachers and employees, we provide industry relevant programs and exceptional student experiences to approximately 16,000 students both onshore and offshore across the College of VE.

Industry clusters

The College of VE is made up of five industry clusters located across our three Melbourne campuses. Our discipline clusters strengthen our multi-sector advantage, while fostering deep collaboration between disciplines. Our discipline clusters are:

Creative Industries

The Creative Industries cluster aims to produce graduates who will respond creatively to the challenges of a rapidly changing international environment.

Future Technologies

The Future Technologies cluster aims to provide skilled graduates with a strong sense of purpose through innovative practise-based teaching and learning based on strong links to industry.  

Business and Enterprise

The Business and Enterprise cluster offers a broad range of industry-relevant, globally oriented, and applied business programs.

Built Environment and Sustainability

The Built Environment and Sustainability delivers innovative teaching in building and construction, electrical, refrigeration and instrument, plumbing and carpentry, architecture and related fields of design.

Social Care and Health

Social Care and Health offers a diverse range of programs across aged care and disability, allied health and applied sciences, community and education support, youth work, nursing, and dental.
