In this holistic communications-focused program, you will deepen your knowledge of advertising, marketing and public relations and showcase your skills by working on real industry projects.
In RMIT’s Advanced Diploma of Marketing and Communication you will apply your knowledge in the classroom, in our simulated communications agency, and by working on projects for clients from a range of sectors.
Recent projects have covered a range of marketing, advertising and public relations activities, including:
- integrated marketing and communication plans
- social media campaigns
- market research
- positioning and diversification strategies
- new product launch
- multimedia production
- web and digital advertising
- digital customer journeys and customer re-engagement

Drawing on our relationships with the advertising, marketing and communication industries and overseas institutions, you will have the opportunity to develop an integrated marketing and communication plan for a client as part of the Virtual Global WIL Project. The project involves collaboration across disciplines and countries as you develop technical business and intercultural communication skills.
By studying the Advanced Diploma you will:

Most of your classes will be held in RMIT's Swanston Academic Building which features innovative learning spaces interspersed with retail and social spaces resulting in a stimulating environment for students.
RMIT offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including workshops, presentations, group discussions, opportunities to participate in case study scenarios and classes where teachers and guests will help you to connect theoretical concepts to the world of work. This program further enhances the learning experience by integrating new media delivery methods such as blogs, discussion boards, quizzes and wikis.
Through RMIT University’s online learning portal, myRMIT, you will be able to view online resources and learning activities created by lecturers, access course materials via Blackboard, collaborate with lecturers and fellow students, and access your student email account. Educational software, the Learning Hub, resources and printers are accessible on campus via the RMIT wireless network using your own laptop, tablet or smart phone or via computer facilities on-campus. You will be able to access the same software from home using myDesktop.

Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes group presentations, work-simulated projects, tests and practical assignments including case study analysis.
You will work with real clients on real projects to gain an understanding of fundamental marketing concepts and use a fully integrated simulated environment, The Agency.
This program is strongly career-focused and is taught and assessed using practical skills and knowledge by teachers who have recent industry experience. In addition, guest speakers from industry are invited to speak to classes, to further enhance your industry knowledge and support your understanding of concepts and assessment tasks. Past students are also invited to classes to share their industry transition experience.
