RMIT offers a range of scholarships to commencing international students across all fields of study.

How international scholarships work

For many international students, scholarships are one of the easiest ways to reduce the cost of studying in Australia. There are many scholarships, bursaries and grants for commencing international students across undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs. Depending on the scholarship, you may be automatically assessed when you apply for your program or asked to submit a separate application. Scholarships can provide support through tuition fee reductions, living expense assistance or other study-related costs, with eligibility based on factors such as academic achievement, country of citizenship, chosen program or personal circumstances.

Provides students from India and the subcontinent with a 20% tuition fee reduction for eligible Bachelor and Masters programs that have received an offer from 2026.

Academic Merit Scholarship for South East Asia

This scholarship provides students with a 20% tuition fee reduction for eligible programs, requiring an Australian equivalent GPA of 2.5 or 70% average or ATAR 75 at the time of application.

China Scholarship Council – RMIT Joint Funding Program

The China Scholarship Council – RMIT Joint Funding Program is only available to citizens of the People’s Republic of China wishing to study a PhD at RMIT University in the STEM College.

If you are an international student from Guatemala applying for a Master by Coursework or Masters by Research or PhD at RMIT University, you may be eligible for this jointly funded scholarship.

HonduFuturo-RMIT University Joint Scholarship

If you are an international student from Honduras applying for a Master by Coursework or Masters by Research or PhD at RMIT University, you may be eligible for this jointly funded scholarship.

RMIT UP Academic English Bursary for Latin American students

If you are a citizen of a Latin American country this bursary provides a tuition fee discount on your Academic English course.

RMIT UP IELTS Preparation Bursary for Latin America, Europe and Turkey

If you are a citizen of a Latin American country, the European Union (EU) or Turkey, this bursary provides a tuition fee discount on your IELTS Preparation course.

Applicants completing high school studies

If you are an international student and:

Studying an Australian Year 12 or International Baccalaureate in Australia
and
Receive an offer from RMIT for an Associate or Undergraduate degree.

You are eligible to apply for the following scholarships:

This scholarship, valued at AU$20,000, is available to international students studying Australian Year 12 or International Baccalaureate in Australia.

Citizens of countries in Africa residing in Australia

If you are an international student living in Autralia and:

This scholarship is awarded to RMIT Vietnam alumni who will commence Master by Coursework program at RMIT Australia.

RMIT UP Academic English Bursary for Asia

If you are a citizen of Cambodia, Japan, Laos, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand or Vietnam this bursary provides a tuition fee discount on your Academic English course.

MORA-RMIT Scholarship

If you are an international student from Indonesia applying for a PhD at RMIT, you may be eligible for this scholarship.

RMIT UP General English Bursary for Asia

If you are a citizen of Japan, South Korea, Taiwan or Thailand this bursary provides a tuition fee discount on your General English language course.

RMIT UP IELTS Preparation Bursary for Asia

If you are a citizen of Japan, South Korea, Taiwan or Thailand this bursary provides a tuition fee discount on your IELTS Preparation course.

RMIT University Top-up Scholarship for Vietnam Government (Project 89)

If you are an international student from Vietnam applying for a PhD at RMIT University, you may be eligible for this top-up scholarship.

Information for students

Some organisations and government agencies provide funding students to finance their study at RMIT University. Sponsorship programs enhance RMIT's social and cultural diversity.

RMIT welcomes students who have scholarship funded by their home government (sponsored students). RMIT currently has over 800 sponsored students. They are enrolled in a wide range programs in all study levels. Prospective sponsored students need to make their own enquiries about scholarship opportunities available within their home country or about potential sponsorship opportunities (such as funding from your employer to study in RMIT).
