You will take part in five elective courses, which allow you to broaden your understanding in a range of areas, including science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education; teaching languages; sustainability in schools; and coaching children’s sport.
BP046PEC – Bachelor of Education (Primary and Early Childhood Education) - Bundoora
Be prepared for the demands of twenty-first century learning and teaching with a qualification that allows you to work with students in early childhood and primary school settings.
This specialised degree provides a professional qualification that allows you to work in a range of primary and early childhood education settings locally and internationally.
BP046PDS – Bachelor of Education (Primary Education and Disability Studies) - Bundoora
This specialised degree provides a professional qualification in both primary education and disability studies.
You’ll be prepared to teach learners with special needs in either special or mainstream schools.

Our program intake is small so that you can develop a strong connection with fellow students, and teachers who will mentor you as you prepare for your future profession.
You will experience a variety of contemporary, interactive learning and teaching approaches including both face-to-face and online delivery modes, interactive seminars, guest lectures and reflective techniques like journaling.
In order to be a lifelong learner, you must be able to evaluate your own practice. Lecturers will provide feedback related to how effectively you work with curriculum, learners and colleagues as a pre-service school teacher so you graduate classroom ready.
All programs are delivered in English.
This program has been designed to provide a minimum of 100 days’ supervised professional experience, allowing you to graduate classroom-ready.
We encourage you to experience education in a range of settings by taking part in alternative placements such as galleries, zoos and hospitals, in addition to your time in schools.
RMIT has strong relationships with many partner schools, communities and enterprises, which assists our students in finding rewarding professional placements. Placements in third year may be taken overseas. Placements in fourth year are selected by students and may include rural or interstate settings.
Through these placements you will learn and develop your own teacher identity, allowing you to adapt to the unique dynamics of different learning environments and student groups. These experiences involve problem-based learning and reflection on your practice as you receive feedback from professional mentors.
Aside from traditional educational settings Bachelor of Education graduates have the skills, knowledge and experience to work in private enterprise, government agencies and community service organisations.
Graduates work in the state, independent and Catholic education sectors in both metropolitan and rural schools.

Professional recognition and accreditation
This program is accredited by the Victorian Institute of Teaching and the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).
Through reciprocal arrangements between registration authorities, graduates can teach nationally and overseas.
Teaching is a globally-transferable qualification which will always be in demand.
You will have the opportunity to undertake international student exchange programs for a semester in Canada, England, the USA, Sweden and more.
RMIT’s Education Abroad Office (EAO) supports students to undertake an exchange or short term mobility activity with over 165 partner universities worldwide.
There are also opportunities for students to complete alternative professional placements in the Malaysia, Nepal or in remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory.
On successful completion of the Bachelor of Education and registration with VIT, graduates are entitled to apply to the Australasian Teacher Regulatory Authorities (ATRA) to register as a teacher nationally and overseas.
